Smartsuit Studio doesn't provide a method to rename the joints but it provides two different versions of BVH file. One follows our generic character rig naming convention and the other is compatible with 3ds Max biped system. Every BVH animation will start with a T-pose in the first frame.
Default BVH first frame T-Pose and Rest pose
3ds Max biped compatible BVH first frame T-pose and Rest pose
Using either the rest pose or the first frame T-pose as reference you can use the animations in other 3D software (like Motion Builder, iKinema, Maya, 3ds Max and Modo) to retarget your animations to your own character.
